A First look at the New Altra Rivera

As many of you have probably heard, the Torin will not be an option from Altra in 2021. The New Rivera seems to be the replacement for the Torin as it becomes the road running option that falls in between the Escalante and the Torin Plush. The Rivera has a stack height of 26mm which is the same as the Torin but the midsole now features the Ego Foam that you might be familiar with from the Escalante. The ego foam has a less pillowy and more snappy, responsive feel to it than the quantic midsole that was used in the Torin. Even though the Rivera has a much higher stack height than the Escalante, it is actually a fraction of an ounce lighter than the escalante. The Mens size 9 weighs in at just 8.4 OZ! The shoes outsole has strategically placed carbon rubber for increased durability and the upper is a nice one piece, engineered mesh material. Just like all of the Altra shoes, the Rivera features a nice roomy foot shaped toe box and a zero-drop, balanced cushioning system to allow your foot and body to move as naturally as possible while you’re out running.
